TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Each team will consist of seventeen players (15 skaters and 2 goalies). No more than three adult staff will be allowed in the players box during the game.
  2. All players must wear approved helmets with approved facemasks as defined by AHAUS and /or High School League rules. Mouth guards and full hockey equipment are also required. Any player on the ice during a game without this equipment will be in violation and will receive an automatic misconduct penalty. Helmets must also be worn on the bench at all times..
  3. Games for Mites, Squirts, 2000s, and 99s will consist of two periods of 20 minutes stop time; PeeWee, Bantam, 98, and 97 games will be 22 minutes stop time. Each goal tender will play one period of each game at all levels.
  4. Should there be a six-goal differential at any time during the game, running time will commence. If the differential falls below six, the game will return to stop time.
  5. Slap shots are allowed and tag up rule applies at all levels.
  6. During the preliminary round resurfacing will take place at half time of all PeeWee, Bantam, 98 and 97 games. On Championship Sunday resurfacing will take place at halftime of all games.
  7. All teams must be dressed and ready to play one-half hour before published starting times.
  8. Penalties:
    • Minor: 2 minutes
    • Major: 5 minutes
    • Misconduct: 10 minutes
    • Fighting: Tournament Disqualification
      In the event of coincidental penalties, neither team will skate shorthanded. Any player receiving four penalties in one game will be disqualified for the remainder of that game.
  9. Preliminary Round:
    • A. Scoring: Win=2pts. Tie=1pt. Loss=0 pts.
    • B. In case of a tie, there will be one 5-minute sudden death period.
    • C. There are no time outs during the preliminary round.
  10. Championship Round:
    • A. Teams will be ranked based on points earned during the preliminary round.
    • B. The top two teams by points will play in the Championship game. The next two teams will play in the Consolation game.
    • C. If teams are tied after the preliminary round, tie breakers will be as follows:
      • A. Head to head competition
      • B. Goal differential
      • C. Goals allowed
      • D. Coin toss
    • D. Each team will be allowed one (1) minute time-out during games on Championship Sunday.
  11. Tie games on Championship Sunday will be decided in the following manner:
    • A. 1st tie breaker - 10 minute sudden death overtime period.
    • B. 2nd tiebreaker—a shootout to run as follows:

    • Coaches will divide their teams into five player pools and designate them as 1, 2, and 3. Starting at the same time from center ice each player in pool 1 will shoot at the opposite goalie. The team that outscores the other team will be the winner. If the game is still tied after all five players have shot then the five players in pool 2 from each team will repeat the shootout. If the game is still tied then the players in pool 3 will shoot it out. This process will continue until one team has outscored the other. Coaches may change goalies at their discretion.
